Largest BIPV solar facade in the Netherlands is in Waalwijk
Waalwijk, November 22, 2021 – After years of research, product development and extensive testing, TULiPPS has realized the Netherlands' largest solar facade on an industrial building. This aesthetic “multi-inclined” BIPV facade of 540m2 was built on the south facade at Van Caem Transporten in Waalwijk.
The solar facade is made up of 240 rimless solar panels and 256 aluminum composite cassettes from Plastica. Each row of solar panels is placed at a different angle, which shows the design freedom and flexibility of the Click&Go mounting system developed by TULiPPS. The Click&Go mounting system is designed to mount rimless solar panels of various sizes invisibly and securely in landscape or portrait position. This flexible mounting method ensures maximum design freedom for architects and constructors.
The facade at Van Caem produces, per square meter of solar panel, an average of 155 kWh, per m2 of solar panel per year. The total expected production is 62,000 kWh per year, sufficient to provide 18 households with electricity for a year.
This innovative fastening system is suitable for new construction and renovation. It can be applied to facades of commercial buildings, apartment buildings and other high-rise facades. The system has been developed for architects and construction professionals to meet the latest BENG (Nearly Energy Neutral Building) requirements aesthetically and safely.
Unprecedented functionalities
The Click&Go BIPV facade is prefab prepared and supplied complete with solar panels as a complete package. As a result, unprecedentedly short installation times are achieved with minimal risk of errors. An important functionality of the system is that each individual panel can be easily removed. This is essential for low maintenance costs. Another unique feature is that solar panels and traditional facade materials can be combined in one mounting system, as the facade at Van Caem shows. The Click&Go fastening system can be used in any wind zone up to a height of 200 meters.
Earn money with a new facade
Building integrated solar panels (BIPV) make an important contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions and the realization of the new BENG standards, especially for high-rise projects. BIPV facade elements provide a better energy label and provide a constant cash flow for at least 30 years.
For buildings with a small consumer connection, and calculated on the basis of an average electricity price in recent months (€ 0.16 / kWh), the solar facade as realized at Van Caem Transporten will generate an expected cash flow of € 16,000 per year. This amount includes the savings in Energy Tax (EB) and Renewable Energy Storage (ODE).
The extra costs of the solar panels compared to a traditional cassette facade are recouped in 7.5 years. It should be noted that financial incentives such as Energy Investment Allowance (EIA), Environmental Investment Allowance (MIA) and the Random Depreciation of Environmental Investments (Vamil) can ensure a faster payback period.
Online platform
The Click&Go BIPV facades are delivered B2B to the construction industry via the online platform www.BIPV.world. (From 01 Dec 2021)
TULiPPS BV and Plastica Plaat have received funding for the demonstration of the Click&Go BIPV facade system within the framework of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program of the European Union (EU grant agreement no. 768766).
About TULiPPS BV
TULiPPS is the creator and developer of the patented Click&Go PV module and mounting technology to transform large buildings according to the latest BENG guidelines using prefabricated solar facades. The Click&Go BIPV facade system and glass/glass solar panels are prefabricated in our own factory in Waalwijk. The owners of TULiPPS are also the largest operator of solar energy on industrial roofs in Waalwijk and the surrounding area (www.solar-valley.nl) and have extensive knowledge and experience in the field of project management (implementation) and the use of solar energy.
